Korean Air unveiled three new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025, taking place from Oct. 17 to 24 in South Korea.
Seoul ADEX 2025, one of the world’s leading defense exhibitions, has drawn its largest-ever participation, with more than 600 companies from 35 countries showcasing cutting-edge aerospace and defense technologies.
Korean Air introduced the Low Observable Wingman UAV System (LOWUS) prototype, a medium strike UAV (loitering munition) prototype, and a full-scale mock-up of the small unmanned collaborative aircraft (KUS-FX).
The LOWUS prototype represents a key milestone in the development of manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) capabilities, a next-generation defense technology that allows crewed and uncrewed aircraft to operate as a coordinated combat unit.
As Korea’s first large, jet-powered UAV designed with low-observable features, its successful development is expected to significantly advance the nation’s unmanned combat capabilities.
Developed jointly with the Agency for Defense Development (ADD), the new medium strike UAV follows Korean Air’s earlier success with small strike UAVs.
The company aims to complete development of the medium-class system by 2026, further expanding Korea’s indigenous loitering-munition capabilities.
